# Forward-Path Decision Record — Node, Collective, and Huey V4

## Purpose

This record captures the architectural turn from the v120.3 Brain / Body / Farm model toward a node-first model in which **Huey is one embodied AI unit** and **Monkey-Head-Project is the umbrella and eventual collective** around one or more nodes.

It does not rewrite v120.3 retroactively. It records what changed, what remains inherited, what is physically present, what has been selected as direction, and what remains provisional.

## Decisions

1. A Huey node is the physical embodiment of one AI unit.
2. One coherent node must be valid before collective operation is required.
3. Brain and Body remain useful node-local functional domains.
4. Farm becomes optional shared infrastructure at the collective layer.
5. Monkey-Head-Project is the umbrella, continuity structure, lab-scale system, and future collective.
6. Exact and augmented bifurcation belong above the node and require explicit provenance.
7. Huey V4 uses V3 as the base direction, V2 as donor material, and the present i9/TUF/Optane system as the intended local kernel after validation.
8. The immediate problem is physical cohesion, not another abstract architecture cycle.

## Current physical record

- Modified Mozart-derived shell physically exists.
- Head is mounted.
- Right hand is mounted.
- Fold-out interaction surface exists and requires refinement.
- The current i9/TUF/Optane machine exists outside the shell.

## Provisional compute direction

The active working target is four GPUs. The strongest present candidate is **3 × Tesla V100 32 GB plus the existing 8 GB utility GPU**. Acquisition, fit, power, cooling, topology, parallelism, and performance remain unverified.

CPU-first transcription, orchestration, logging, I/O, and support duties remain the practical first assignment. Unified node-level GPU inference is a target posture, not an accomplished runtime.

## Inherited decisions

PyHuey remains the primary GUI and core-runtime direction. The current namespace remains `huey`, with `hueyos` as the target. V1 remains open. The known MP3-to-structured-log workflow remains a foundation proof. HIMS remains non-controlling. Dylan remains the current canon authority. Atlas remains external to Huey.

## Non-claims

This record does not claim that V4 is assembled, the i9 kernel is installed, V100 cards are acquired, accelerator memory is transparently unified, the collective is operational, or governance authority has been implemented.
