# Huey V4 Shell Plan

## Status and purpose

Huey V4 is an active embodiment direction, not a completed build. The purpose of this plan is to turn existing shell, donor, and compute material into one serviceable physical node without manufacturing completion claims.

## Relationship to V2 and V3

V3 supplies the base physical and visual direction. V2 supplies donor material. Exact salvage, replacement, and retention decisions require a photographed inventory.

## Current physical reality

| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| Modified Mozart-derived shell | Physically present |
| Head | Mounted |
| Right hand | Mounted |
| Fold-out interaction surface | Present; requires mechanical and ergonomic refinement |
| i9/TUF/Optane machine | Assembled and operating outside V4 |
| Existing 8 GB GPU | Available as utility-GPU candidate; role must be re-verified |

## Active V4 direction

| Item | Direction |
|---|---|
| Base | V3 physical and visual identity/body |
| Donor | V2 structures and components after inventory |
| Kernel | Move existing i9/TUF/Optane system into V4 after validation |
| Accelerator target | Four GPUs |
| Strongest candidate | 3 × Tesla V100 32 GB plus existing 8 GB utility GPU |
| Main inference | Software-coordinated parallel path across major GPUs |
| CPU | Transcription, orchestration, logging, I/O, and general system duties first |

## Candidate four-GPU topology

The candidate layout is not an installed or purchased configuration. Aggregate accelerator memory is not transparent unified memory. Model capacity depends on a validated method such as tensor parallelism, pipeline parallelism, layer sharding, offload, or another measured approach.

## Mechanical and electrical work

The plan must resolve motherboard mounting, storage retention, GPU spacing, risers and lane topology, card support, power supplies and startup current, airflow, exhaust, cabling, balance, transport, emergency shutdown, service access, and separation between compute heat and shell electronics.

## Baseline capture before disassembly

- Complete hardware inventory and photographs
- Cable and connector map
- Boot and storage-health baseline
- Backup and restore check
- Thermal and power baseline
- PCIe device and lane inventory
- Firmware, driver, and operating-system record
- Tested rollback path

## Validation gates

Use distinct labels: **present**, **assembled**, **integrated**, **operational**, **validated**, and **complete**. Each later label requires its own evidence.

## Unresolved decisions

Exact V100 variant and acquisition state, physical fit, PCIe layout, power architecture, cooling, interaction-surface redesign, final finishing, model target, inference framework, degraded operation, and V4 acceptance criteria all remain open.
